Camping near Folkestone - tents at Pete's Field campsite

Camping near Folkestone

Our pop-up campsite near Folkestone is returning for a second season at Cole Farm in Paddlesworth this summer. And we’re already getting excited about it. Just a couple of miles outside town, in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our field has lovely countryside views, plenty of space and a short walk to the nearest pub. Oh and, perhaps best of all, campfires are allowed. The site offers quiet camping near Folkestone and Canterbury with a relaxed, back-to-basics feel thanks to our tents-only policy.

Pete’s Field @ Cole Farm 2019 season

We’re opening up on Friday July 26th this year and will run for a month until just after the August Bank Holiday. Bookings are open now. You can come with your own tent (£15 per adult, £2.50 for kids) or go for the easy option and book a bell tent. We’ll provide the tent, beds and cooking equipment – you just bring food, bedding and… well, that’s about it! Our bell tents are £85 per night for a family of four. Check out our booking page for more details.

Things to do when you’re camping near Folkestone

If you’re looking to come camping near Folkestone for the first time, you’ll want to check out what’s on offer in the local area. In the summer, Folkestone harbour and seafront are bustling. There are eateries and entertainment on the Harbour Arm and independent shops and galleries in the Creative Quarter. There’s old-school elegance along The Leas promenade and an adventure playground at the Lower Leas Coastal Park. And that’s not to mention the beaches. You can roll your trousers up for a paddle at Sunny Sands, go fossil-hunting at The Warren or swim off the shingle beaches which line the way west towards Sandgate.

Outside of town, but not far away, there are plenty of other attractions too. Popular places to visit include Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, the White Cliffs of Dover and the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway. There’s also the Kent Battle of Britain Museum which is less than a mile from our campsite. Take a look at our page on the local area for more.
