Pete’s Field camping cabin

The Camping Cabin at Pete's Field

Open during our pop-up camping season – and beyond

The Pete’s Field camping cabin is a cosy bolthole for two in Paddlesworth, a tiny hamlet in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to Folkestone.

During our pop-up camping season (which runs from Friday July 15th to Monday August 29th in 2022), it is open alongside the 20 camping pitches and four bell tents that form Pete’s Field Campsite. Outside of those times, it stands alone at the top of our five-acre field giving you the chance to enjoy the views and the loos all to yourself.

Cabin camping

Whether you visit in or out of camping season, the cabin offers more comfort than camping but remains blissfully back-to-basics. Our aim is to encourage people to enjoy the great outdoors and, as a result, we’ve kept things simple. The cabin has hot and cold running water to a kitchen sink and there’s an electricity supply to power a kettle, electric heater and plugs so you can charge your phone… but other than that it is back to basics. For cooking, there’s a single-ring camping stove for use outside and a fire pit with a grill. There’s no fridge, but we do provide a cool box with ice packs. Having said all that, we still want you to be comfortable, so we make the bed for you and have put in some comfy chairs and a breakfast bar as well as space for storing and preparing food undercover.

Things to do

Entertainment comes in the form of books, board games and the fire outside. And the view is pretty good too. Pete’s Field often has spectacular sunsets and, on a clear night, the stars can be impressive. Listen out for hoots from the resident owls, coos from nearby wood pigeons and squawks from visiting pheasants. The Cole Farm cows graze Pete’s Field when the campers have gone home and from your paddock at the top of the field you’ll often have a great view of them. Pete’s Field is in a great position for walks and for visiting Folkestone, Hythe, Dover and Canterbury. Check out our page on the local area for more information on places to visit.

The facilities

Outside of camping season, cabin campers have use of the campsite’s flushing toilets which are a short walk away from the cabin (about 50 metres) and of our lovely little horsebox shower. The horsebox shower is completely private and positioned next to the camping cabin. It has hot and cold water, a washbasin and gas-powered hot water shower with eco-friendly products provided.

During camping season, you will have use of our popular outdoor bucket showers. They are private (just with a view of trees and skies above) and they do have hot water. You will also have access to the other campsite facilities: our rainy-day trailer and log store, outdoor washing-up sinks and a total of six shared toilets. During this time, we live on site and are on hand to answer any questions.

Family bookings

Families, with up to two children, are welcome at the cabin and two fold-out zed-bed mattresses or a travel cot are available but bedding is only provided for the double bed. If you are coming with older children or friends, we are also able to accommodate an extra tent for an extra cost. To book for more than two, please call to discuss arrangements.

Be aware

Uneven ground, a raised bed and a step into the cabin means it is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Cole Farm is a cattle farm with a small herd of cows. The cabin stands in a fenced paddock at the top of one of the cattle fields so at times you will be able to see the cows and calves in close proximity – but this is not guaranteed. Dogs are not allowed at Pete’s Field Cabin due to the animals that live on the farm including cows, horses and the farm’s own dogs. You may see these during your stay, please respect them and do read our Terms and Conditions carefully before booking.

The best way to book Pete’s Field Camping Cabin is directly, through this website, where prices are £100 per night, for up to four nights and £400 for between four and seven nights during our pop-up camping season. Outside of camping season, the cabin is £75 for one night and £60 per night for stays of two nights or more.
