The campsite

Pete’s Field is a quiet, pop-up campsite in Kent offering back-to-basics camping – with campfires allowed. We’ve been popping up at Cole Farm in Paddlesworth in the Kent Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for a few weeks in the summer since 2018 and will be returning from Friday July 15th to Sunday September 4th in 2022. When the campsite is up and running, we offer 20 pitches for people with their own tents, four bell tents and a little camping cabin. Cars are parked in the neighbouring field to keep Pete’s Field as peaceful as possible.

Our facilities are basic, as you might imagine from a pop-up campsite, but do include a bijou little block of flushing toilets cleverly built in a small container and our quirky open-air bucket showers. Hot and cold water is on tap and open-air washing up facilities are provided. We don’t have any pitches or bell tents with electric hook-up but the camping cabin does have electricity and a water supply, so why not book that if those things are important to you? The cabin also remains open outside of camping season –take a look at our dedicated cabin camping page for more details.

There are also some great family-friendly attractions in the area including Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway and Dover Castle. And that’s not to mention the seaside where there’s plenty of fun to be had with a bucket and spade.

Pete's Field campsite in Kent is a great place to head out for walks on the North Downs WayGreat for walkers – Cole Farm is less than a mile off the North Downs Way National Trail, just after the village of Etchinghill. If you are hiking the route and looking for a campsite in Kent that’s near the Kent Downs, why not stay for a night at Pete’s Field? You can cook yourself dinner on a campfire or order a takeaway to the farm and head to the local pub for a rewarding pint. It’s also a great place to base yourself to head out on shorter walks and we’ll be happy to recommend routes.

Bike packing at Pete's Field CampsiteGreat for cyclists – Pete’s Field at Cole Farm is right on National Cycle Route 17 and not far off the Cantii Way. The beautiful scenery of the Kent Downs is popular with bikepackers and cycle tourists and our campsite provides a perfect place to camp for the night. We have water, warm bucket showers and a table and chairs if you need somewhere to cook and eat your dinner.

Bell tents at Pete's Field campsite in KentGreat for friends – we know that lots of people want to camp with friends and think that catching up around the campfire is one of the best ways to while away an evening however our campsite is quiet and family friendly and we therefore limit bookings to two tents together. Each pitch can accommodate only two adults and up to six children. We are happy to consider full campsite bookings though so get in touch with us to hear more about this option.

Sunset behind a bell tent at Pete's Field campsite in KentGreat for couples – with just 20 pitches in a five-acre field there’s plenty of space for everyone so you should never feel crammed in. If you’re looking for a place to camp by yourself, with a partner or with a friend, Pete’s Field provides a quiet location where you can just enjoy being in the countryside by relaxing on site or going for walks. We get great sunsets from the field and its not too bad for stargazing either. For a particularly romantic break, we recommend booking our camping cabin outside of camping season, when you’ll have the place to yourselves.
